Check out this week's new "Speechless". Maya get jury duty and her 'golden ticket' to a day of leisure. We went full Hollywood musical, with a 25 piece orchestra recorded at the legendary Fox Newman Scoring Stage and an 8 person choir. Vocals by the one and only Minnie Driver.

Life is strange. Totally random, I got asked to write a rock song for an episode of CSI by producer Phil Conserva. Cool, something I don't get to do too often, sounds like fun. As we get into, I find out the band is made up of Gene Simmons from Kiss and the bass player is (totally random) Jamie Kennedy. So anyway, a fun diversion for me. If you get a chance to check it out, it's pretty cool to see Gene up there rocking out to my playing. Click here for info.

As a child, movie music had a huge impact on me. I was always drawn to the sweeping orchestral sound of film music, though it took me years until I realized that it was what I wanted to devote my life to. Years later, I was helping out friend, film maker, and video director Nigel Dick (Guns and Roses, Britney Spears, and the list goes on). I opened my mailbox one day and found a gift from Nigel - a double CD of the Best Of John Barry. I played that thing to death, from Out Of Africa to Indecent Proposal to Dances with Wolves. Anyway, flash forward to last year. We were recording the orchestra for an upcoming film called "A Perfect Man" with the Czech Film Orchestra in Prague These orchestra sessions for a film are always a mad rush to try and get everything done without running out of time. However, several times in the past, this rush has caused us to get done early and I have to send 60 musicians home with time on the clock. So, I decided on my 11 hour plane ride from LA to Prague, to write a cue to have ready in case we had extra time. Low and behold we did, so I got to record this track, "The Guvnor Rests" with a live orchestra. It was written for nothing else but the joy of music and my chance to write something a bit old fashioned, sweeping, a bit of a tip of the hat to a composer who had a huge influence on me, the late great John Barry.
